Milwaukee

Milwaukee is a great town! We are not from here so we can speak as outsiders who became insiders. When we first moved to town for work, our goal was to get experience for two years and head somewhere where it is actually Spring in April. We’ve now been here almost 25 years!

What makes Milwaukee great? Most importantly, it is the people. We have a strong bias towards the Midwest so we just feel comfortable with the Midwest approach and attitude towards life. But, we are friends with people from all over the world, and those that stay here with us in Milwaukee feel the same way we do. It is full of good, genuinely nice people.

Milwaukee is also an easy town to enjoy. We have everything you might find in larger cities (one of which is just to the south) with a fraction of the hassle or expense. The restaurant scene has blossomed in the last 15 years. And the summer activities and festivals cannot be beat. Lake Michigan and the inland lakes provide endless recreation. And world class golf is right around the corner. It is not an exaggeration to say that Milwaukee has the best weather for outdoor activities in the US during June, July, August, and September. The days are wonderfully long, and the temperature is moderate during the day and cool at night – perfect for sleeping.

“What about the winter” you ask? Well, winter can to hard, but as I get older, I’m finding that I tolerate the cold much better if I am dressed for it. The key is to get outside and enjoy it! Go ski, hike, or snowshoe. There are some amazing outside activities all within two hours of downtown Milwaukee.
